1920 Rolls-Royce 40/50 H.P Silver Ghost Open Tourer by Joseph Cockshoot

1920 Rolls-Royce 40/50 H.P Silver Ghost Open Tourer by Joseph Cockshoot. Chassis number 1LE, this beautiful example is an original, matching numbers Silver Ghost with matching engine, no. N87, chassis and original Torpedo Open Tourer body by Joseph Cockshoot of Manchester. It is believed the car spent much of its life, some 86 years, in the Manchester area, having been originally ordered by Harrold Perry Esq, a Yarn Salesman of Failsworth House, Failsworth, Manchester. The car was later owned by Major Frederick Cundiff who was manager of the Presbury Chemical Factory, his father being Sir William Cundiff, Lord Mayor of Manchester. In recent years the car has formed part of a private collection of vintage Rolls-Royces including several Silver Ghosts, 1LE has been part of this collection for over 20 years. During this time the car has been restored including a full and comprehensive engine rebuild and a full rewire in the correct materials, since the restoration 1LE has been used regularly enjoying long distance touring and taking part in the RREC alpine tour, it has also appeared in many Tv productions including ‘Downton Abbey’ and The ‘Sandman’.  The car retains many of its original special features including original fittings folding Auster screen, highly unusual wheel mud scrapers, full and complete tool box and Dunlop spare wheel.  The black hood is new as are the perfectly fitted side screens making touring in 1LE a pleasure. Offered with an impressive history file which includes copies of the original factor build sheets, a copy of a period Joseph Cockshoot & Co photograph of the car, invoices for works carried out and a wonderful book of detailed photographs.  Performing extremely well on the road and presenting in truly breathtaking condition throughout this exceptionally special Silver Ghost must be seen to be fully apricated. A rare opportunity to acquire a highly coveted example, not to be missed.
