1937 Rolls-Royce 25/30
1937 Rolls-Royce 25/30 chassis number GAN37. Hooper Sports Saloon design
6684 built for Rolls-Royce themselves for the Geneva Motor Show. She weas
originally delivered to Geneva on a French chassis plate and is marked up
in metric and imperial. Her first private owner led the development of UK
Aluminium industry. Her third owner was the surgeon on the Royal Yacht
Britania and a renowned arctic explorer, know to her late Majesty, Queen
Eliabeth II as ‘Our David’. A more recent custodian was the director of
the VSCC and the Twenty Ghost Club, he added overdrive which has aided the
car recent and frequent trips to France and Italy. We have maintained the
car for the last owner who, with his wife, regularly covered trips of over
1000 miles with this 25/30 which was affectionately known as ‘Little
Ethel’. She made the trips with ease and was more than comfortable
cruising at 110 KPH all day long. Having been maintained to an extremely
high standard, the previous owners invested some £40,000 during their
13-year tenure ensuring that the car was in first class condition. Looking
through the extremely large history files, dating back to the 1950’s, it
is clear to see that the cars previous owners have had a similar attitude
toward maintenance, the car has simply been cosseted and that really shows
today in the way she presents and drives. An extremely fine example of
what must be one of the most drivable prewar Rolls-Royce’s on the market.
