1997 Bentley Turbo RT Mulliner Special Order
Frankfurt Motor Show
Unique Mulliner specification
Bentley press car originally registered
‘1800 TU’
This one-off Bentley Turbo RT was commissioned by
Bentley Motors for the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show, the car was sent to
Mulliner for a huge list of special features to be fitted to showcase
Bentley’s new and most powerful 4 door saloon, the Turbo RT having some
400 BHP and 590 lb f torque. These special features included: custom order
Wildberry hide with ‘Weybridge’ style sports seats, special order highly
figured dark Burr Walnut interior woodwork featuring wrapover waistrails,
veneered door panels and steering wheel, veneered picnic tables and
cocktail requisites. Electrically adjustable and heated rear seats,
champagne Fridge, television and DVD System, umbrellas in the boot and
video storage compartment, turbo boost gauge on dashboard, chrome
instrument bezels, two tone gear lever and steering wheel in Maroon and
Black and drilled alloy pedals. The coachwork is finished in Masons Black
which is complimented by Maroon fine lines, Mulliner wing vents, 5 spoke
17” alloy wheels, chrome radiator shell with mesh grille and flying B
mascot. The original VHS system is supplied with the car but has been now
professionally upgraded to a DVD
system which is fully working. The car is offered with an extensive
history file which includes two stamped service books, invoices for works
carried out, including the replacement of the cylinder head gaskets,
copies of the factory build sheets which detail the specification of this
unique example and past MOT test certificates. Also present in the file
are two original copies of Autocar magazine from 1997 both with multipage
page features of this very car when it was used as the Bentley press car
and registered with Bentley factory demonstrator registration ‘1800
TU’. Having covered 111,000 miles, this beautiful example has been
maintained to an extremely high standard throughout its life by main
agents and specialists, this is evident both in the appearance of the car
and the way it performs on the road which is truly exceptional. This
extremely rare and highly desirable example would warrant any Bentley
enthusiast collection, a real piece of Bentley history being the motor
show car for the last true Bentley model made.
