1949 Bentley MK VI Standard Steel Saloon
1949 Bentley MK VI Standard Steel Saloon finished in two tone Blue with
Grey leather.
Supplied new on the 24th October 1949 by Jack
Barclay Ltd. Hanover Square, London W1 to Eric Low Beer Esq of Norton
Priory, West Sussex. After three years the Bentley was sold to G.L
Saunders Esq of Knowle Park, Warwickshire. By 1960 the Bentey was back in
London W1, owned by Clayton Cars Ltd in Brutin Place. They sold the car to
Chancers Pit Garage in Worcestershire right though to 1977 when it was
sold to Mr Watson of Gloucester. From 1980 the Bentley was with one owner
for 19 years in Cheltenham and another 9 years with another owner also, in
Cheltenham. From 2008 the car has had a couple of owners, one in
Derbyshire who kept the car for 12 years and most recently the car has
resided among a very smart private collection of Rolls-Royce & Bentley
motor cars in Kent.
Today the car is presented in beautiful condition
throughout, the bodywork having been stripped back to bare metal in recent
years and re painted to an extremely high standard. At the same time re
chroming work was undertaken where necessary and all-round the car is
extremely sharp and presents itself very well indeed. Inside the Grey hide
is soft and smart with just the right amount of patina, the Dark Blue
Wilton carpets are new as is the Grey wool cloth headlining, the Burr
Walnut polished wood is beautifully figured and remains in excellent
condition. On the road the car performs particularly well; powerful,
smooth and very comfortable, it would make a perfect long-distance tourer.
The extremely refined driving experience is testament to the car’s
careful maintenance.
